We're in the final stretch! Join us for an in-person MAFLA Meets at Common Craft in Burlington to celebrate the successes of the school year and share plans for recharging over the summer. Colleagues are welcome, though please have them register as well. Looking forward to seeing you there!

MAFLA Proficiency Academy, 2026

Join us to learn or advance your skills in performance-based and proficiency-focused instruction and curriculum design. Our 3-day Proficiency Academy is an immersive and collaborative learning experience. Depending on your own skill set, you can choose between:

Implementation Strand, led by Rebecca Blouwolff
Curriculum, led by Leslie Grahn

Each strand includes high-quality workshops and facilitated break-out sessions where you can collaborate with colleagues to develop your own proficiency-based material to bring back to your district.

MEALS & HOUSING:

You may choose to stay in the Westfield State dorms for an additional fee (check in Monday morning and check out Wednesday afternoon).

Those residing in the dorms will have all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) included. Those commuting will have breakfast and lunches included.

Are you ready to celebrate the end of the school year, network with world language teachers from MA, or catch up with colleagues in various target languages? All MAFLA Members are invited to join the participants of Proficiency Academy 2026 in Westfield, MA to celebrate the wins and successes of the past school year together!

This wine and cheese reception is sponsored by Carlos V Education and will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 7:00 PM on the campus of Westfield State University. Be sure to register and feel free to invite a colleague! We look forward to seeing you there!

Want to take advantage of summer break to explore a gold mine of cultural resourses with fellow World Language teachers? Join us for a mid-week visit to the Museum of Fine Arts! We'll meet up, wander around to find artistic treasures that we can connect to our curriculum, and catch one of the MFA organized gallery tours.

Option to grab lunch together as well! The event is free though registration is required. Admission/lunch will be covered by participants.

(Plan ahead and reserve your local library's museum pass for reduced admission!)

Fostering a Sense of Belonging Through Multilingualism

The MAFLA Annual Conference, October 30-31, offers members an outstanding PD opportunity for learning and collegiality. Included in the basic conference registration this year are 60-minute concurrent sessions on Friday, lunch on Friday (included in the price), and deep-dive workshops & working groups on Saturday morning. You can also register for our Saturday morning Immersion Breakfast or our Saturday afternoon Business/Awards Luncheon. On Friday, there will be a variety of companies and organizations exhibiting their products and services in the Exhibit Area. Please register so that you take full advantage of this newly designed MAFLA event at our new venue!

IMPORTANT!

Cancellations: Any registrant who needs to cancel their registration while registration is still open is able to do so with a 15% fee. After October 18, the amount of the refund, if any, is at the discretion of the Conference Chair.
